A graduate returns to Susan Brown Foundation with gratitude

On 5 August 2026, a young person who had once been in the care of Susan Brown Foundation returned to visit, accompanied by their brother. They came simply to say thank you.

Return visits like this are quiet and powerful. They remind everyone at the children's home in Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, that the work does not end when a child leaves. The habits of care, schooling, and encouragement can travel with someone into adult life, and sometimes that person walks back through the gate to acknowledge it.

We do not need a long speech to understand what the visit meant. Showing up with a sibling, offering thanks in person, and reconnecting with the place that held them for a season is its own message. For the children still in our care, seeing a graduate return can also plant a simple hope: there is a path forward, and this home remains part of their story.
